There is no greater need right now than a foaming hand soap that is gentle on your hands yet effective for protection from the dreaded Coronavirus. And most importantly, one you can make yourself at home since you are probably having a hard time finding them.
At the end of every news report, we hear the constant reminder to “Wash your hands, wash your hands!!!” I have never washed my hands so frequently in all my life.
Well, it doesn’t take long for your hands to dry out if you aren’t using a moisturizing and gentle soap on your hands. Dry, cracked hands leave you more vulnerable to viruses and bacteria.
I really like foaming soaps because it uses less soap and it cleans and rinses off quickly.
I think you will enjoy this recipe that I am using by all the sinks in my home. I love how fresh and clean my hands feel afterward. Even after all the handwashing, my hands feel happy and well moisturized.
You may even have all these ingredients at home, if not, they are easily accessible on Amazon Prime. I took great care in adding links to products that are still available, affordable and the best quality, natural ingredients. I will update this post and these links once a week during this pandemic and once a year during cold and flu season so check back.
This foaming soap will not only keep your hands clean and germ free but it will moisturize your hands to prevent dryness and cracked skin from frequent washing. Experiment with other essential oils and combinations of oils along with different color enhancements to change things up. Note: you can use red and blue food coloring instead of liquid color, but I prefer the brightness of the liquid color. I just finished making more foaming soap before sitting down to my email and seeing your message. I had remembered seeing the blog post recently with your soap recipe and although I usually keep mine more basic I remembered that you used vitamin e and another oil, which I couldn’t remember at the time. I ended up using jajoba since that’s what I had in my cupboard next to the vitamin e oil and it really does step it up to a nicer soap. I’ll try almond next time as well.
That’s great Sarah! There are so many ways you can do this. Any oil added to the foaming soap is going to make it so much nicer on your hands especially with all the handwashing we are doing these days! Thanks for sharing!
